Research partnerships or agreements (as opposed to grants) between À¦°óSMÉçÇø and an industry, government or non-profit organization typically fall into one of the following broad funding arrangements:
- Inter-Institutional Agreements
- Sub-Contracts & Amendments
At the early stages of collaboration, the following agreements may also arise:
Each of these contractual arrangements differ in terms of the parties’ control over scope and timing of the project, the nature of the services provided, intellectual property rights conferred to the sponsor, the type of research personnel involved, and the degree of latitude on budgeting.Â

- Draft – Provide advice and prepare agreements for review
- Negotiate – Liaise with sponsors, universities, industry and other partners (e.g. government agencies, not-for-profit organizations, etc.)

- Participate in building project proposals – competitive bids, partner engagement, team building and collaboration
